Co-founder of Rebel City Distillery, Cork city’s first distillery in 50 years. Bhagya’s husband, Robert Barrett, is a Corkonian and together they embarked into the adventure of starting up Rebel City Distillery in 2019 .

Bhagya was Born and raised in India and moved to Ireland to pursue MBA in 2013 , after MBA started working in Dell as IT program Manager. She calls herself a “techie who got into this fascinating world of spirits by destiny.”

Maharani Gin was launched in June 202. It’s an Irish gin with Indian influence. Signature botanicals for Maharani are sourced from women’s co-operative in Kerala , South India where Bhagya is from. Hence the name, Maharani, meaning queen .

It’s a contemporary style gin and can be enjoyed neat, in cocktail or as a gin & tonic . Maharani has won five awards so far including a silver in Blás na hÉireann.
